Naviera SA, Piraeus; 10/11/1966 arrived Shanghai for breaking up. Sisterships: DEBRETT, DELANE, DELIUS, DEVIS(1), DEVIS(2), DEFOE(1).
DEFOE (2) replaced another DEFOE (1) which in transit Manchester/Famagusta sank when cargo exploded off Rockall, an small rock situated NW of North Ireland. These type of vessels were revolutionary in design for the time, with supersctruture and housed a small port of the accomadation. I was onboard DEFOE (2) with my father, an Oporto/Leixões pilot, in 1946.
